Effect of low sodium and high potassium diet on lowering blood pressure

چکیده
Background: Hypertension is the leading factor of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Although antihypertensive medical treatment cornerstone blood pressure control, lifestyle modification, including optimal diet therapy, such as dietary approaches to stop hypertension (DASH), cannot be overemphasized.Current Concepts: Due mismatch between sodium intake excretion process being key mechanisms according physiologic principles, low high potassium intakes are critical components DASH. If patient has a sensitive elevation following increased intake, could essential for control. Salt sensitivity by activated reninangiotensin system, sympathetic nervous activity, channels disorder, endothelial dysfunction frequently observed in elderly patients with obesity chronic kidney disease. Increased attenuate absorption affecting intracellular chloride WNK4 especially salt or intake.Discussion Conclusion: For intakes, Na/K ratio good target intervention, this approach component

Effect of low sodium diet or potassium supplementation on adolescent blood pressure.
The roots of essential hypertension extend back into the first two decades of life, suggesting that effective intervention during those years may lead to a reduction in the incidence of adult hypertension. Decreasing the dietary sodium/potassium ratio offers a potentially effective approach to blood pressure reduction. This study tested the feasibility of 3-year sodium reduction or potassium su...

The goal of hyptensive anesthesia is the safe reduction of intraoperative blood loss, thus reducing transfusion risks. Previous hypotensive technics had a narrow margin of safety in that cardiac output was usually reduced in proportion to the degree of induced hypotension. This is in contrast to the results of our study, in which Sodium Nitroprusside was used as the sole hypotensive agent. Ni...

متن کاملLow-sodium diet induces atherogenesis regardless of lowering blood pressure in hypertensive hyperlipidemic mice
This study investigated the influence of sodium restriction and antihypertensive drugs on atherogenesis utilizing hypertensive (H) low-density lipoprotein-receptor knockout mice treated or not with losartan (Los) or hydralazine (Hyd) and fed low-sodium (LS) or normal-sodium (NS) chow. Despite reducing the blood pressure (BP) of H-LS mice, the LS diet caused arterial lipid infiltration due to in...
متن کاملEffects of low-sodium diet vs. high-sodium diet on blood pressure, renin, aldosterone, catecholamines, cholesterol, and triglyceride (Cochrane Review).
BACKGROUND The question of whether reduced sodium intake is effective as a health prophylaxis initiative is unsolved. The purpose was to estimate the effects of low-sodium vs. high-sodium intake on blood pressure (BP), renin, aldosterone, catecholamines, and lipids. METHODS Studies randomizing persons to low-sodium and high-sodium diets evaluating at least one of the above outcome parameters ...
